Some very moving words...

Our family had a private email sent to Sharron's site. It was a gentleman who is a manager of a Website www.debbiekey.org His friend was murdered Deborah Leigh Key. This gentleman Got me thinking how hard it is to say "I'm sorry about the loss of your sister.... daughter....or even if it is right to say anything at all.... I never want Sharron to be forgotton..Seems the years go by and she is forgotten about a little more each year. Her friends still get together I'm sure..and even maybe remember her...these memories are special memories. But memories that I would love to hear. Maybe Sharron's friends do not know how to start a conversation with her Family..afraid of what we will think! Afraid of saying something that would offend us...
I think some days..I would like to hear special moments that Sharron's friends had. Special silly things that they did together...Places that they hung out..country places....swimming holes.
I know that Sharron had many special friends but it's a shame that we do not hear from them.

The biggest disappointment I have ever felt towards my friends occured after starting a website about a mutual friend of ours. I was expecting everyone to contribute, and saw that it just wasn't happening. I began feeling anger towards those I had previously felt affection towards. I wanted to tell them, "Dammit! She was your friend too! Now help me do this website!" I ended up seeing a therapist over this.

What I had to come to terms with is that different people have different ways of dealing with personal losses like this. It is a difficult lesson for me to learn, and I am still struggling with it.

We want all our friends and loved ones to understand that it is important to us to hear from them. Just a few words would mean so much.
We, in turn, must remember that just because a person doesn't come to the funeral doesn't mean that they don't care.

One important lesson I have learned is that any words that might make a person feel better are worth saying. It takes little effort, and it goes so far.
This is the reason I became a blogger in the first place. For those of us who are not as comfortable expressing themselves with words, let us remember that they may feel the loss just as deeply as we who respond with comments.
